Red Bull Racing’s Hungarian Grand Prix didn’t get off to a particularly good start. Well, actually, it was pretty disastrous.
Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo were racing each other for fourth place through the opening two corners of the Hungaroring.
At the exit of Turn 1, Verstappen had run wide and onto the run-off, but had the inside line as Ricciardo drew alongside him.
But Verstappen locked up with understeer and ran deep into the Turn 2 hairpin, right into the side of Ricciardo’s RB13…
It was a fairly big whack into Ricciardo’s sidepod, which appeared to leak some fluid afterwards. The Aussie struggled through Turn 3 and then spun on the exit.
He was lucky to not get collected by anyone else, and was fuming afterwards, calling it “amateur” and saying over team radio:
“Was that who I think it was? [Censored] sore loser”
Verstappen was given a 10-second time penalty as a result.
