There’ll Be No Need For Nyck de Vries At McLaren This Weekend

Lando Norris fans, do not fear. The McLaren driver will be fit enough to compete at this weekend’s Brazilian Grand Prix.

With Norris unwell with suspected food poisoning during Thursday’s media day, McLaren wasted no time drafting in ‘Super Sub 2.0’ Nyck de Vries for a seat fit. However, it sounds like Lando is fighting fit and will be ready for FP1 and qualifying later today around the iconic Interlagos circuit.

That’s right, remember it’s a sprint weekend!

Although it looks like Nyck is trying to get papped wearing every race suit in the paddock this season, he is actually one of the official McLaren reserves. As the team is a customer of engine supplier Mercedes, Merc have said they’re happy to share their reserves with customer teams in case of emergencies – look at Monza and Nyck being in for Alex Albon at Williams.

There’s also been talk that Paul di Resta is STILL one of the McLaren reserves, which, to be honest, we kind of want to happen just for the laughs…

We’re glad to hear Lando’s feeling better 🧡
