There’s no denying that 2023 is going to be a wicked year of cinema. However, there’s one film we can’t wait to see, and that’s the new Gran Turismo movie which is based on the real-life story of Jann Mardenborough.
With an awesome cast that includes Orlando Bloom, David Harbour, Darren Barnet and even Geri Halliwell Horner (yep, seriously), it promises that audiences will feel “every jolt, every thrill of this racing at 200 mph.”
Harbour, who many of you will know as Jim Hopper in Stranger Things, spoke about the movie on Wednesday, calling it “badass race-car action that you’re gonna feel you’re in the middle of”. Sign us up 🙌
The film will be in cinemas from August this year, which can’t come soon enough.
What do we know about the film so far? Well, David Harper’s character is going to be playing a retired driver who teaches a young teen how to drive.
The movie is also inspired by the world-famous game, as well as the incredible true story of Mardenborough, whose awesome gaming skills won him a competition that led him to become a professional racing driver.
Friend of WTF1, Jann won the 2011 GT Academy competition, beating an insane 90,000 entrants to the prize of a drive with Nissan at the Dubai 24 Hour race.
He’s also raced at the Le Mans 24 Hours as well as in the FIA European F3 Championship, took part in both GP2 and GP3, and spent years competing in Japan in Super Formula and Super GT.
WE ARE SO READY FOR THIS FILM 🤩
