Whenever the DTM series is racing at the Norisring, you know you’re in for some good on-track action. That proved to be the case once again in 2017.
After a disrupted race two, which featured a red flag for a huge shunt between Gary Paffett and Mike Rockenfeller, it was Maxime Martin who took the race victory.
He was a little way clear of the chasing pack, but it was the battle for third that everyone was watching as they approached the chequered flag.
Edoardo Mortara, Mattias Ekstrom and Marco Wittmann were all running side-by-side on the run to the flag and there was barely anything in it.
Mortara ended up taking the final podium spot, but only by 0.002 seconds, with Wittmann a further 0.025s behind Ekstrom. Wow.
It really couldn’t have got much closer!
