This Save By James Hinchcliffe Is One Of The Best We’ve Seen In Ages

Pulling off an amazing, high-speed save at a normal race track is impressive enough, let alone when it’s at a terrifyingly-quick oval and the driver is racing at over 190mph.

We’re not sure how IndyCar racer James Hinchcliffe managed to keep his car Schmidt Peterson Motorsports machine out of the barrier after this wild moment.

The Canadian was battling for position in P10 on lap 102 at Pocono Raceway and on the higher line when the rear of his car stepped out and he had to make two attempts to correct it.

Amazingly, he did just that, narrowly avoiding a hit with the barrier in the process.

New race suit for the Mayor of Hinchtown, please…

It was a seriously impressive piece of driving skill and one that still has us confused as to how he managed to save the mammoth slide.

The onboard view shows just how hard he was working behind the wheel to keep from crashing hard.

Sadly, a little while later Hinchcliffe’s good work unravelled with a big shunt after he clashed with JR Hildebrand – both cars suffered hefty hits but the drivers were OK.
