If there’s anything scarier than being in a car which suffers brake failure, it’s being rammed off the road by a car which has suffered a brake failure. That exactly what happened in this Argentinean touring car race when Remo Rafu’s Ford failed to stop. He punted the VW of Diego Presta in the braking zone, pitching Presta into a series of rolls which flipped the car over the barrier.
Yeah, those cars are destroyed. Incredibly Rafu was OK (and probably grateful to have another car to slow him down) whilst the incredibly unfortunate (or fortunate, given the violence of the crash) Presta broke his arm.
Interestingly this is the track that wants to return as the host of the Argentine Grand Prix in F1. Looks like it’ll need a few safety upgrades if that’s gonna happen…
