Top Ten: Craziest moments of 2010

Hailed as ‘The greatest season ever’, the 2010 F1 season has had just about everything. It’s made us laugh, cry, smile, shout… you name it, it’s happened in 2010.

But what were the craziest moments of 2010? Here’s another WTF1 top ten. Enjoy.

10. Kobay-bashi goes crazy

Kamui Kobayashi put on an incredible show in Suzuka for the home fans with his Banzai moves. Kamui seems to have his own braking zone, much to the enjoyment of F1 fans around the world.

9. The World gets Webberized

This year even saw an F1 meme. Mark Webber’s celebration jump saw him photoshopped into loads of hilarious situation. Pictures of King-Kong, the space shuttle and even Fernando Alonso have all been ‘Webberized’.

8. The Incredible Hulk-enberg

Qualifying for the Brazilian Grand Prix was set to be one of the most important sessions of the year for the Championship contenders but which of the five challengers would get pole? Well non of them… Rookie, Nico Hulkenberg only went and stuck it on pole in another mad moment from F1 2010.

7. Fernando is faster than you

Despite ‘Team Orders gate’ being used in the coverage over and over and over again, it was still an unbelievable moment of 2010. Massa looked ready to take his first win of the year before Rob Smedley’s infamous message to Felipe came. “Fernando is faster than you. Can you confirm you understood that message?”

6. The Korean building site

Just a few weeks before the race and the “track” was still a building site. Constant rumours about if the track would be ready in time believed many to think the race would be cancelled. Despite this they went ahead, even if they were still building parts of the circuit during the race weekend!

5. Buemi’s wheels fly off

Well just watch the video and see! Never have I seen an F1 cars front wheels just fly off under braking. A truly bizarre site.

4. A Grand Prix weekend in one day

A massive rainstorm on the Saturday saw impossible driving conditions. As teams made boats to race down the pitlane, the decision was made for Qualifying to be cancelled. This meant quali and race were held on the same day, the first time since 2004.

3. When Team mates collide

We had the Ferrari’s touch in Silverstone, the Mercedes clip in Spa and the Toro Rosso’s crash in Germany. Yet no team mate crash could match the drama of the Red Bull’s colliding in Turkey. Two drivers, who were so chummy in the previous race at Monaco, became arch rivals.

2. Webber gets his wings

From time to time you get a massive crash and Webber’s certainly was one of them. Whilst trying to pass Kovalainen in Valencia, he crashed into the back of the Lotus and got launched into the air. Webber did a full back flip as F1 fans hearts stopped for a moment. Thankfully he was completely fine.

1. The closest title in history

You just never knew who was going to take the crown. The championship lead changed a whopping 9 times and with two races to go five drivers could still win the title. Another incredible stat was that a driver never won a race whilst leading the standings. The final result saw the top four separated by just over a 3rd place finish. Incredible.
