Touring Car Race Lasts Only 10 Seconds Before Huge Crash

With such a massive field in this ADAC TCR Germany race at the Nurburgring, it was only a matter of time before there was a huge crash.

Well, it took 10 seconds in race two for a big shunt to take place, with Dino Calcum’s Opel Astra slamming into the barrier just after the lights went out.

Fortunately, he was able to get out of the car and seemed to be OK, but it really was a terrifying impact with the barrier. His car even got airborne for a moment!

Skip to the 3min20s mark for the replays of the accident to start. It appears the driver on pole position was slow away and moved across the circuit, to get the inside line for Turn 1.

But Calcum had a good start and tried to dive up the inside, just as the polesitter moved across, squeezing him to the right.

He tried to react quickly and turn right but there was another car in that gap, which pitched him spinning into the wall.

Not a great way to start a 30-minute race…
