Yesterday, out of nowhere, TVR dropped a teaser on social media suggesting that it was about to return to motorsport with some kind of prototype. Today it was revealed exactly what it was; unfortunately it’s not a full-on TVR racing team, nor even an engine, but it’s still pretty good – the marque will appear on Rebellion’s R-13 LMP1 cars for the duration of the WEC ‘super season’.
Seeing that logo again on a racing car is extremely satisfying! TVR has some history at Le Mans and last raced there in the GT2 class in 2005. Though there are no plans yet to return to the GT class of the WEC, TVR says this partnership with Rebellion would help with the development of a ‘future one-make series’.
Given the popularity of the TVR Tuscan Challenge one-make series in the 1990s, that’s definitely something to look forward to.
