Let Mercedes explain in simple terms the massive Formula 1 regulation changes coming into force in 2017.

We all know big rule changes are arriving in F1 this year and we don’t have long to wait until the new cars are launched, but what exactly are these new technical regulations?
Mercedes is here to help, with a series of useful videos that describe the new rules in basic terms, so even we can understand them.
First up, we get an insight into the big aero rule modifications for the 2017 F1 season, including wider front wings and lower rear wings.
These changes will give the cars more downforce to increase corner speeds, but also more drag on the straights.
Then, of course, there are the fatter tyres. This is the topic of a completely new and separate video, because it’s such a major factor for 2017.
F1 tyres are getting 25% wider, so we can expect a bit of a retro vibe from the cars this year.
The bigger tyres mean more rubber touching the track surface, so grip levels look set to increase by quite some margin and will play a big role in cutting lap times.
