World RX driver Andreas Bakkerud is used to throwing a 600bhp-plus rallycross car around on dirt and over jumps while banging door handles with five other drivers. In racing terms, driving a single-seater is about as different as it gets, and Bakkerud recently had the chance to sample a couple of cars at the Red Bull Ring (it’s tough being a driver associated with Red Bull…)
Bakkerud gets behind the wheel of a Formula 4 car before moving up to a Formula Renault 3.5. Drivers crossing over to other events it always cool, but what’s really interesting here are the in-depth explanations of what it’s actually like to learn how to drive the cars quickly.
Only two seconds off of Max Verstappen’s lap time? Not bad at all for a first attempt!
