The 2017 IndyCar season started this weekend with its now-traditional opening race at the St. Petersburg street circuit in Florida. It was supported by the Pirelli World Challenge, Stadium Super Trucks and all of the series that make up the ‘Mazda Road to Indy’.
Although the entire track (including the airstrip) was resurfaced ahead of this years event it’s still a street circuit, which means it’s still a huge challenge for all the drivers. Especially as for many of them this would have been one of their first races of the year and they would still be shaking off a touch of race-rustiness.
Now that’s a lot of action – but with 13 different races happening across the weekend (plus all the practice and qualifying sessions) it’s hardly surprising that it makes for over 25 minutes of video. Just imagine how long it would have been if Maldonado had found a seat in IndyCar…
