Lewis Hamilton may have won his fourth title in Mexico but the race also showed that the next generation of F1 talent look pretty damn good too, with Max Verstappen winning the race and Esteban Ocon scoring yet another impressive points finish.
Verstappen is still only 20 but has won three F1 races already, while ‘Oconsistency’ hasn’t retired from a single Grand Prix and he’s picked up a bucket load of points in the process.
Could they be the future of F1? Quite possibly. But we’ve already seen them battling each other in the 2014 European Formula 3 season, this battle at Spa-Francorchamps being the best example.
Ocon ended up winning the championship in his rookie year for the dominant Prema team while Verstappen took third with Dutch team Van Amersfoort Racing.
