Once upon a time, not so long ago, British Formula 3 was one of the hottest championships for young talent. The 2008 season featured five drivers who would later go on and race in Formula 1 – two of whom were Sergio Perez and soon-to-be-Toro Rosso-driver Brendon Hartley.
In the final race of the season at Donington Park, the two found themselves in a tasty battle as Hartley tried to get past Perez for second place.
Yup, Perez was as tough back then as he is now! And that’s Hartley’s current Porsche teammate Nick Tandy getting in on the action, too.
As they battled, Jaime Alguersuari scampered off up the road to win the race and the championship – less than a year later, he was an F1 driver.
Hartley and Perez ended the season third and fourth in the standings, with another familiar name in Marcus Ericsson fifth, and the one and only Max Chilton down in 10th.
