Ed Carpenter proved once again why he’s the master of qualifying at Indy with four stunning laps, each of which averaged over 229mph. For comparison, only one other driver (Simon Pagenaud) produced a single lap at over 229mph in the whole session, yet Carpenter somehow managed it for all four for a pole speed of 229.618mph.
