This year’s Austrian Grand Prix wasn’t a thriller, and the only real highlights were the first and last laps of the race.
F1’s opening tour of the Red Bull Ring was littered with chaos, and that all helped Felipe Massa jump up the order from a lowly 17th on the grid after a rubbish qualifying for Williams.
He benefitted from the Daniil Kvyat/Fernando Alonso/Max Verstappen clash and positioned his car perfectly to weave his way through, and was also helped by other drivers going off.
As the video above shows, though, he made up a lot of ground in just a few corners and that elevated him into the top 10 – and he eventually finished ninth.
