Toro Rosso used a filming day to shakedown its new STR12 a few days before the official testing begins in Barcelona.
A few days before launching its car in Barcelona, Toro Rosso headed to the Misano track in Italy, close to their home base in Faenza, in order to give the stunning-looking STR12 its first laps on track.
Despite the fog both Sainz and Kvyat managed to get enough laps in to give us this footage. Although teams are allowed to cover 100km on a filming day Toro Rosso apparently fell short after a problem with the Renault power unit forced them to cut the on-track running short. Still, better to have these problems now and not on one of the actual test days!
Although it’s only a filming day the fast kinks of the Misano circuit (which is named after the late Marco Simoncelli) give brief glimpses into just how fast the 2017 F1 cars are going to be.
Even in the gloomy conditions that fresh new livery looks just as great on track as it does in the studio. Let’s hope it goes as well as it looks!
