Formula 1 racer Fernando Alonso’s visit to the Grand Prix of Alabama was extremely busy
McLaren driver Alonso’s decision to run the Indianapolis 500 instead of the Monaco Grand Prix is a huge story for the world of motorsport.
So, unsurprisingly, the Spaniard’s visit to the IndyCar paddock with McLaren boss Zak Brown on race day for the Grand Prix of Alabama was a pretty hectic one.
Alonso headed to Alabama to get a better look at what IndyCar is all about, talk to the drivers he’ll be racing against at the Indy 500 and speak to the media.
It was a busy day for Alonso, as he got to grips with how IndyCar works and took a closer look at the cars – he’ll drive a Dallara DW12 for the first time on the 3 May at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
IndyCar put together a load of footage from Alonso’s visit to the paddock, as he watched Josef Newgarden take his first win for Penske.
Alongside media duties and meeting the drivers, the video also shows Alonso sitting in Marco Andretti’s car, which coincidentally wasn’t able to start the race due to an issue…
Know anything about that, Fernando?
