Charles Leclerc’s drive to first place in the Formula 2 sprint race last weekend was arguably one of the best performances in the junior categories we’ve seen in quite some time.
The Bahrain International Circuit is one of the easier tracks to overtake on, but that didn’t make Leclerc’s storming charge from 14th to victory any less spectacular.
The Monegasque driver was leading the race when his Prema team gambled on a late pitstop with eight laps to go, which is almost unheard of in F2 (formerly GP2) sprint races.
He fell to 14th place but with fresher soft tyres, he quickly moved his way up the order and took the lead on the last lap to win in incredible style. More of these kind of drives, please!
Someone’s put together all the passes and key moments from Leclerc’s charge up the field and it makes for brilliant viewing.
