After the sad news that the the incredible Murray Walker had passed away earlier this month, Williams Racing have paid tribute to the commentator on their car for this weekend’s Bahrain Grand Prix.
The emotional quote, “and I’ve got to stop, because I’ve got a lump in my throat”, is now displayed proudly on both of the Halos on each Williams.
Murray uttered these iconic words when Damon Hill won the 1996 F1 Championship, and perfectly summed up how everyone felt watching the brilliant piece of motorsport history. Hill managed the achievement in a Williams, hence the quote on the car.
