Hello there…

Williams has jumped the gun and beat its rivals to becoming the first team to reveal its 2017 F1 car, after getting glimpses of what’s to come from teams at Pirelli’s tyre tests.

It hasn’t properly taken the covers off it just yet, but instead gave us a look at its new car in first images of the FW40 revealed by Autosport and Motorsport.com.

The online reveal showed off the result of these big new regulation changes for the up-coming season, mainly focused on aero and tyres.

The FW40 – named because it’s the 40-year anniversary of Williams this year – features a sharper, angled and wider front wing.

There’s also more sculpted bargeboards, a slight shark-fin engine cover and, of course, the lower and wider rear wing with curving endplates.

It’s not quite as aggressive a design as many were expecting, and the annoying stubbed front nose design remains, but overall the design does look pretty smart.

It's certainly an elegant design

The Martini livery also helps matters though…

The FW40 will be driven this year by Felipe Massa, the man with the shortest ever F1 retirement, and rookie teenager Lance Stroll.

Sauber is next to show off its 2017 car, with images set to drop on the 20th, before Renault launches the RS17 on the 21st and car launch week really gets going from there.
