Today marks 15 years since the horrific crash at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz that nearly cost Alex Zanardi his life. Also happening today was the H5 Men’s Road Race at the Rio Paralympic Games and guess what? Yep, Zanardi won yet ANOTHER Paralympic medal.
Zanardi narrowly missed out on gold, taking silver in the hand-cycling road race behind South Africa’s Ernst Van Dyk.
“15 years ago today I was reborn. A silver for my anniversary. Not bad!”

His silver medal comes just a day after he won his third Paralympic gold medal in the H5 Time Trial, adding to the two golds and a silver that he won at Brands Hatch as part of the London 2012 Paralympics.
What more to say. The word ‘legend’ just doesn’t do the guy justice.
